Novel High-Efficiency Three-Port Bidirectional Step-Up/Step-Down DC–DC Converter for Photovoltaic Systems

This paper presents a novel high-efficiency three-port bidirectional DC–DC converter for photovoltaic (PV) systems. A PV system’s output is stepped up to supply DC bus or load while charging the battery. When insufficient, battery voltage bus; when has excess energy, it down charge Thus, step-up/step-down achieved. common-core coupled inductor was designed and adopted in proposed converter. Power switches diodes circuit are shared achieve operation. In step-up mode, clamp capacitor used reduce spike on main switches. Moreover, voltage-doubling recovers energy from secondary-side leakage inductance. Furthermore, input capacitors recover primary-side inductance step-down mode. can improve its conversion efficiency. Finally, this details implementation of 500 W verify feasibility practicability topology. According measurement results, highest efficiency levels mode were 94.3% 94.1%, respectively; 95.2%.
